Dalgety, now part of the Masstock group, is one of the leading UK suppliers to arable farmers, providing seed, fertiliser and agrochemical inputs, and also supplying agronomy and marketing advice. The company makes 150,000 deliveries a year and supplies over 510,000 tonnes of fertiliser. The company employs 400 staff at four major UK sites and 15 local offices. The Masstock group also has a subsidiary in Poland and is developing as a major supplier in that region. DAL has an extensive research programme, and conducts trials at the company's own site at Throws' Farm, as well as at 20 regional trial centres across the UK. Work is performed to evaluate new seed varieties, as well as new methods of agricultural production, including precision farming. DAL has participated in the MicroNfix project, conducting field trials and providing perspective as a potential end user, and will continue this contribution in the RHIBAC project.
